Just a quick question really -

A number of horses have come onto our yard lately, having traveled (by boat) on another horses passport.

The fact that all these horses are from the same dodgy dealer is besides the point unfortunately, but it is really annoying me that Horses are not being checked to make sure they match the passport they are traveling on.

A 16hh black mare just came over on a 16.2hh chesnuts passport for goodness sake!!

I really want to write to somebody, but who? Would I right to DEFRA? The ferry company? Any advice would be gratefully appreciated.
It's only a matter of time before disease appears. People are so irresponsible!

Thanks, sorry for mini rant but it has grinded my gears! :D

I completely know what you mean. I bought my horse only to find out once the purchase had been made that she did not even have her own passport. I just assumed she would have a passport as it is a legal necessity. It's amazing how lax the system is as there are several horses roaming around without passports or medical records, and some individuals seem completely comfortable with the prospect. It's worrying, I agree. But who's out there to offer any enforcement? That's the problem.
