Hi everyone, this is my first post so I’m a full newbie. I have a 17 year old Irish cob whom I have owned since he was 7. He is my horse of a lifetime and I am committed to him totally. Hence following many vet visits and every arthritis treatment I opted on vets advice to proceed with Pastern Arthrodesis on his hind leg. The op went perfect and he was a saint to boxrest for 12 weeks. Now he is on field rest and looks sound in walk but not yet in trot. Regular follow up xrays revealed 6 weeks ago that fusion hasn’t completed yet so it’s just a waiting game. Has anyone any experience of this procedure and how long before soundness. My horse is 8 month post op so I hope he will keep on improving. He is used for regular light hacking only nothing strenuous. Thanks in advance.
