Pastern Rings

My horse is quite close behind.He has marks all over his pasterns where is looks like he's been knocking himself with the other hoof.
Will these sausage-like pastern hooves help this? Spoke to the lady at the saddlery today and she suggested them rather than the Mark Todd pastern wraps I was going to buy as she said the ring will disencourage him to do the movement.
I also have the farrier out next week so will maybe discuss some limb correction?

Yes they will help protect a horse who is close behind. I'm not sure what the difference is between them and Mark Todd pastern wraps though.
