Pasture pump

Has anyone used a pasture pump with horses? A great invention pumping clean fresh water from a stream. However my horses don't seem to have the hang of pushing the pump with their nose yet despite encouragement from me , titbits and so on. The pump has been in situ for almost a fortnight now. Just wondered if anyone has had similar experience or some advice.

I don't think they will, cattle use them, but they have a different nose type, and may also be used to watering bowls of the push type, which horses wont use either. Do you have any cattle?

No cattle, but they are advertised as being used for horses too. I understand that cattle are quicker but have read that horses just take a little longer. If all else fails I think i can adapt the pump to fill a trough. That would sort of defeat the object however. Thanks for your comments though.
