I went to plumpton for stages 1,2,3 TOTAL waste of time and money. Was the worst run yard I have ever set foot on! They do everything totally the opposite to what they teach you for eg ...They teach...You should always get horses used to being turned out for a holiday gradually but cutting down feed and turning out for longer periods of time daily etc etc....What they do... When school holidays come the horses from the yard that have lived in 24/7 (some being ridden 3 x per day ) with 2 huge feeds a day are just chucked out in the field all together and forgotten about until the beginning of term.... Great management?!?!?

Don't know about other colleges though, just wouldn't personally recommend plumpton, but each to their own...
xx

Went to Plumton was great no problems did NVQ's 2 AND 3 then did BSc in Equine sports performance.
Very frendly good selection of horses well looked after.
But everyone will haved there own opinion my experiance was very positive and would highly recomned.

i did 2 yrs at plumpton, but that was a good 14 yrs ago!! i'm sure a lot has changed. altho i hve to admit, since having my own horse, i hve learnt far more in the same time frame as at college. i was never the greatest rider, and you could see the difference in how the instructors treated the "normal" people like me and the "potentially good" people. ie, i never got any help with general confidence issues, and never rode in the yearly show, or got to go on the cross country course but wouldve been more than capable on a steady horse, for example. i loved it all tho. jst being with horses everyday was enough for me at the age of 17. and the social life and growing up etc. i'm sure its all changed big time since back then, but all the horse course seemed to set you up for was either as a groom or the BHS stages exams. i'd hve loved to go down the science route and i wish i had the chance to do it all again, as a degree in equine science would be spot on for me. but hey ho, all in hind sight! just be sure you feel happy with anywhere you choose to study.
