Got there at 2.30 and had to park over the bridge

then waited 2 hours till Jack jumped, the warm-up was horrendous (have these people ever been to a show before?) and Duke got really excited which is most unlike him, he's normally very laid back

people were cantering past madly and 2 circled in front as they were about to jump! Anyway went in for the 90 cm amateur and he was 'where's the jump, where's the jump, where's the next one? and got too close to the 2nd double and said 'ooh I can't jump it and stopped
grin.gif
He has never stopped before but Jack just turned him round and they popped over it nice and calmly. In the BN he jumped a lovely double clear with just 3 time penalties, we'd put his flash on for this class and the control was much better, so a good day - roll on Tweseldown

Wow, I think you're brave going there! We went there a few times with Cat & ended up over the bridge... & he absolutely would not cross it without a lead... Made for an interesting day cos could only go back to the lorry if someone else was going back...

Don't go there any more cos of i) parking issues ii) a million people in each class & iii) practise jumps always end up top of the wings even for BN. ???

Sounds as if you had a positive day!

Say well done to jack for me

Can't believe how busy it was today! Sorry didn't get a chance to say bye - the girls wanted to go so we just went back to the lorry and went straight away after jack jumped

One of my pet hates and because I'm a pony club mum I usually say something. We don't jump higher than the class so I usually get some dirty looks

On the unaffiliated day there on saturday someone was jumping almost top of the wings in the practice ring for the 90cm open! What is the point?! If they can jump that big then they shouldn't be entering an unaffiliated 90cm class!!

Well done, having turned up at 1pm and only jumped in the 90cm at 3.45, I couldn't be bothered to hang around for the BN in the end. I don't think I'll bother going there again - FAR too many entries taken in each class and definite lack of warm up facilities - shame as the club house was very nice!

I also wish they would put the results up as I was lying 4th when I left, but with another 40 odd to go, I doubt we'll qualify :-(

If you time was in the low 30s you may have been placed. We warmed up outside but then came in for a jump and it was manic

We agreed we are only going to Patchetts for dressage in the future, yesterday we needed a sj practice and that was all that was suitable.

Really, my time was 29 something so fingers crossed! I also agree that Patchetts is a dressage venue. However, I don't do dressage any more unless it is compulsory so I doubt I'll be going again!! I tried to warm up outside but was evicted from the outdoor school next to the clubhouse!

Glad you had a good day and it sounds like it was worth going as they finished on such a good note.
But I do know what you mean about Patchetts. Its a bummer as they are the closest BSJA venue to me but I can't bear the dread of maybe having to park over the bridge, particularly as I often go alone which makes the whole thing verging on impossible. The number they have in each class makes for a very long day, which is even worse if you're parked over the bridge!!
Also agree on the warm-up. I don't think you're actually allowed to warm up outdoors (but good for you if you got away with it) so all there is is that smaller indoor and considering they regularly have 70 odd in a class its just not big enough really. They do have a rule which is next 10 only but its impossible to enforce.
So I tend to only go there if my classes are first, so I can be sure of a decent parking space. But if there's anything else on, like The College or Norton Heath, both of which are a lot further for me, I'll go to those over Patchetts any day!

Thank you. The bridge thing was really horrible. I go on my own too and was intially parked over the bridge but knew there was no way I'd get my mare to walk over the bridge. However, as I was about 3 hours too early I just hung around the lorry park like a weirdo stalker and then sprinted to get my lorry when there was a space!! I'm sure if they limited their classes to say 60 per class they would still make reasonable money and it would be much more pleasurable for competitors.

It was the first time I'd been there for BSJA (was fine when I went for BD a few years ok) and even though ti only took me an hour to get there, I don't think I'll bother again. I'm lucky as have quite a few BSJA centres within an hour or so, so I have a bit of choice.

We did warm up next to clubhouse - for ages

If challenged I was going to tell them to sort out the indoor before we would use it!

I did say that to the lady who ordered me out - she said I had to take it up with the show organiser. I decided just to vote with my feet - hence I won't be going back!
