It's middle October and Lena has been growing in her winter pelt for the last 2 and a bit weeks. I knew that on her neck/shoulders it was coming in in drips and drabs, but a friend took an instagram picture of us in the woods and with the photo filter it really brings out how patchy and mottled her winter pelt looks more than you can see with the naked eye! Is this normal or abnormal? I can't seem to remember my old horse growing his pelt in like this and all the other horses on the yard are clipped or not showing much winter growth yet so I can't compare. Google came up blank for me too. Any suggestion would be much appreciated.

Oh wow! I seriously hope it's not. She's 9yo and not showing any other symptoms of cushing's other than the weird patchy winter coat on her neck and shoulders. She's putting on muscle and not lethargic or drinking any differently. If more people think this is a sign of cushing's I'll have to have a word with the YO and schedule a test, but seriously crossing my fingers it's not! Sadly we're not in the UK so we can't apply for the free test either, but what needs must.
