Been searching around online and settled with possibly be using paton and lee (essex) to use for my stage 5 vetting and then becoming perm vet, anyone got experiences with them or info? cheers
My horse had his annular ligament treated by the old fella there who was fab so I went back when he went mysteriously lame and was given the worst advice ever by a junior vet.
This junior vet, when challenged, lost my horses records so when he went to Rossdales he went with no xrays etc. The referral letter said nothing about the first vets diagnosis, oddly enough. Had the vet had his way, my old fella would have been put to sleep there and then just for having bad feet.
I use Jonathan at Paton & Lee & he is wonedrful
My boy was diagnosed with gastric ulcers not so long ago & he made sure he rang me each week to check on his progress. I am a new client to them as we have just moved to the area & compared to my old vets they are brilliant!
Would certainly recommend to others!
Its much like most things on here, some people love them and others don't! I wouldn't use paton and Lee myself, after an seeing how they work when I had one of mine in full livery and they were treating other horses there, but they do have some fantastic facilities at Hoo Hall, although I would also question whether it would be better to send a horse there for surgery or somewhere that has the full hospital facilities.
I use Conor Fenelon (www.essexhorsevets.co.uk) and I know that either he or Marianna will turn up knowing the history of our bunch whatever the time of the day or night. Can't rate them highly enough.
Good luck with your move, hope you enjoy this part of Essex.
I'm with them currently and have seen my horse through a lot this year! There was one time when I sent my horse up there for nerve blocks, only to be told that he was very full of himself, had been given a calmer which masked the lameness! then I was told his back was the problem. Luckily I got a 2nd opinion and that was when the navicular was diagnosed.
I really like Paton and Lee, have had a few experiences with them and he's currently on antibiotics prescribed by them for a sinus infection (which has now cleared!) The one bugbear is they always recommend very expensive tests/xrays etc! when actually what he needed was rest or changes to his routine. He's fine now... I really like Paton and lee, find them really helpful.
