Pau - advice for a newbie to it!

Has anyone ever been?

Been looking at the website and it doesn't look too pricey for tickets compared to events over here....

Where is it near to for flights? Accommodation etc?

There is an airport about 5 minutes away don't know where in the uk if anywhere flies direct. Contact the organisers for an accomodation list.

stanstead fly to pau (o/h parents have a house closeby)
accomodation i cant help with but there are plenty of hotels (ski resorts are fairly closeby also).
car hire is via hertz and you WONT cope without! pau is a diddly lil airport so finding everything isnt too much of a struggle, car hire is down the end of arrivals!
oh and a word to the wise.....NOTHING and i do mean nothing is open monday or tuesday in pau except for garages!

only ryan air fly to pau direct from the uk, i think everyone else goes to bordeaux or toulouse both of which a couple hours (ish) away. I stayed at some dirt cheap chain hotel there is a list on the web site search pau CCI**** you should find it. i am going to go again this year but i will probably drive.

sorry forgot to add, the airline that flys to pau from stanstead is ryan air! we got returns for £28 a person earlier in the summer!

im desp to go,been meaning to go each yr for 3 yrs now and never get round to buying tickets!

Looked on ryan air,no flights back on the 25th or 26th?? if u fly back nxt day they r mega bucks so prob not worth it??any ideas? is Ryan air the only air-line going to Pau?? .Is it a good event??and worth going too??(lots to see and buy?)

Yep, Ryan Air fly direct to Pau from Stanstead - if you are quick the flight only costs £10 inc taxes (or at least it was when we booked it last wk) However the return flight is slightly more expensive so we are flying back from Biarritz (apparently only about 1hr from Pau) which has cost £33. Of course it depends on which day you are planning on going out/coming back!!


Agree with you re; ticket costs - think it is about 30-40 euro for a 4 day pass, bargain! Makes me laugh, between the entry tickets and the flights it is still cheaper than going to badminton for the w/e
