Hi have any of you used these please?

I'm looking for advice on choosing the best ones/fit/sizing/comfort for GSD Any issues or problems etc ones to avoid/quality etc. I wanted the sort they use for search dogs/SAR etc

My boy loves to swim & recently cut his paw(hind) checked nothing is stuck & could see the tiny cut but as he's about with me around the horses all the time, 4 weeks on he is still licking if dust or dirt get on it & now is licking to the point of making it soggy & stopping it heal

He happily allows me to dress him up in trainer socks which he is very good with & leaves them on but not much good at the stables as they get wet so I'm looking for a set to get him not only to keep his paw clean so it can be dry& heal but thought they would also be kinder than hot summer tarmac or rough terrain walks, not to mention in winter but when the roads are gritted or the fields sprayed..

Thanks in advance

I got a set of Ruffwear Grip Trex boots when Henry hurt his paws. They did the job - he hiked all the way round the Coldale Horseshoe wearing them on a hot day, had an off-lead run and clambered through heather and a bog, and they stayed on fine. They also came in very handy when he did yet another paw in more recently!

brilliant Spudlet thank you, I found Ruffwear and was hoping these would have been mentioned...tho nearly keeled over at the price, some are £100 a pair! No new trainers for me then,we'll have to wait to have matching pairs;-)they look really good & thanks for the stay-on-a-bility recommendation!the ones i made him from socks fly off when he goes really fast, even if vetwrapped!:D

:eek:I know, Henry's were £45 for two, and he's only got little paws! But it was the only way we were going to get any more walking in unless we left him at home, which he would have hated (we did have a contingency plan, which involved decanting all out stuff into one rucksack, and putting Henry in the empty one if he'd started limping:D. I'm so glad he didn't as he would be a noisy, wriggly, smelly passenger!).

I did find them to be very good though - we went to a shop in Keswick that fitted them for us (no more expensive than buying online) and they said that you should always put two on, to stop them just refusing to put the booted paw down, and to fit them as tightly as you possibly can to stop them being flung off in the initial 'What is this on my paws get them off me what have you done to me I hate you' dance... Henry tried to walk with neither of his rear paws touching the floor for a second , but he did accept them quite quickly. Now he doesn't mind them, as he only wear them for walks (only when needed of course) so they have good associations for him.

Try countrymun they sell a variety of boots and can be bought in singles or sets. I used theirs when maya had a tumour removed from her foot

Thank you Satinbaze, I hope Maya made a speedy recovery?

Spudlet..I'm lovign the image of Henry you've given..:D He sounds like he has a huge personality! My Polar Bear will probably do a little piaffe-he does with some pairs of socks(depending on colour and if he's chosen them:rolleyes: but he loves wearig aythig I wear so if i put my socks on first he thinks its super cool to have his own..they make him do zoomies all around the house at 90 mph! He'd love the idea of being carried, but that would be more of a hammock than a bag..and he'd want me to run really fast..so i think our only problem will be making sure we don't bump into any other dogs with the newest paw-tection..think I'm going for the 15 ones o ebay for the mo, just till I sell the house..then we can get him his own shoe-drobe!Thank you for the fitting tips too:)

Try Trixies in amazon, half of Ruff wear and as good or better as those.
When my GSD went through CDRM I bought about 4 different brands until I found these in Amazon..... They are great!
