I submitted an order to Sports Direct using Paypal. We went through the payment screen successfully, but then before the end the SD website had a problem and the order did not complete. We have not received the usual order confirmation email from SD. There is absolutely no way to contact Sports Direct, no phone number and unless you have an order number or your questions relate to their standard answers you are stuck.

I have been onto the Paypal website and the payment is shown as pending but I cannot cancel it as it is not unclaimed. Do the vendors have to claim the money from Paypal to get their payment or is it paid automatically. Paypal are also proving difficult to contact. Does it mean that if a pending payment is not claimed it becomes Unclaimed, at which time I understand from the website I can cancel it.

Be very careful. This happened to me once, with a different company, and someone had actually hacked the website, put up a false page, and subsequently used my card details for their own purchases. Fortunately HSBC monitor accounts and contacted me with 'suspect' purchases. Apparently, fraudsters usually spend just one pound on your account to check it is 'live' and when that works OK, they go in for the larger purchases. I really hope this is simply a genuine web error.
