Another rug question (sorry; must be the weather!). Need to get my ned a light weight with a neck (about £70) and having looked EVERYWHERE I have realised that for an extra £100 approx I could get a three in one rug and get alot more variety and more for my money.

But i have a few queries you guys may be able to help me with;

Firstly; can you use the top sheet on it's own as a light weight rain sheet?

Secondly: has anyone found that the top sheet has not dried out after a heavy day of rain, so i'd have to have a spare h/w - m/w on standby for wet days?

Thirdly; has anyone tried the new Premier Equine Buster Trio or the Weatherbeeta TriStar and how do they compare to the Rambo Duo?

I love PE rugs and am tempted by the two necks you get; a 100g and a 200g particularly if you can use the top sheet on its own.

Thanks for helping me with my Wednesday headscratch topic!

I use Duos - love thme but I get them about 1/2 of RRP at the factory. I'd be interested in those PE ones if I couldn't get Rambos discounted...

Woudln't touch WBs with a barge pole

I have two weatherbeetas; one fits badly and leaks: the other is fab but i've had to reaplce all the buckles after 2 winters...you are lucky you are in the emerald isle for cheap horsewear stuff!

I’ve had the trio for a few weeks now and am loving it, it has seen rain but not a downpour yet, but with the weather this week it will do soon, I love PE rugs anyway but so far haven’t a bad word to say, I had a duo on the same horse last year and didn’t rate it, the neck was short it worked out expensive having to buy the extra liners etc...

I've got a Duo (but only becaue it was on offer, so got it for just under £150 inc. P&P).

Had been looking at getting a PE one as has extra hood and liners included (although I haven't seen this model the PE rugs I have seen have all been fab). Won't touch WB with a very large pole as a HW one rubbed my mares loins bald in 2 days!!!!

You can use them without the liners..... no problems.... but I hate doing it as you are stuck with a greasy rug for the winter.....

This year I am using an Amigo rainsheet with a 100g duo liner under (doesnt slip at all) and when he needs 200g I will put it under the duo and save the lining from getting all mingy!!!

I have a Rambo Duo - and like it very much. However, I do think that the PE trio is far, far better value for money.

I was borrowing a friends Rambo Duo and have now bought my own PE Buster trio...I have to say I just LOVE my new PE buster and actually think that the quality of it is much, much better than the Rambo!! The liners are so easy to attach and the fit and the cut of it all is excellent, all the buckles etc are super quality. Love it! First rug that Ive really splashed out on and am so pleased with it! Hoping to use the liners underneath my stable rug when/if he starts to come in at night.

Not used it in heavy rain yet so cant comment on wether it would dry out quickly.

I've got a duo, which is a good few years old (got it when they first came out). Really rate it it's been washed loads of times in my domestic machine and I've re proofed it myself with nickwax stuff- it's still fab

he wears it about 300 days a year, and it never rubs or moves etc when you think of how much use you get out of them they don't seem so expensive.

If you leave the wet rug on the horse they dry out really quickly; I've stopped using stable rugs now, he just keeps the duo on.

The PE ones look good though, but I've not seen one in the flesh.
