My mare has a lot of over-reaching related cuts and scars from her previous home - ones at the back from where she's caught herself, and ones in the front from where I can only think they did the westropp design boots up too tightly and it cut into her.
She does overreach at high speed / when jumping / when being silly so I've been using overreach boots to protect the area from any further injury - but the plain rubber boots I used to use rubbed her badly, so I've been using the Roma fleece over reach boots over the "proper" sheepskin ones in an attempt to save some money!
Unfortunately this isn't going well as although they don't rub her, she gets through them very quickly and I'm finding myself buying new pairs every week so think I may have to grit my teeth and spend a bit more than I'd like to in the hope that they'll last a bit longer.

I was looking at the premier equine boots, and they look very durable! But I'm worried that they may rub as they don't have any fluffy protection - does anyone have them? Is the top bit soft/padded enough or is it quite tough? What do you think of them in general / are they true to size?

Alternatively there are the woof wear sheepskin boots (gulp, at £40!) which have a lot of fluffy protection but I think I'd be afraid to use them outside an arena as I think they'd get ruined quickly with all the mud she takes me through.

Any other recommendations for boots that won't rub her would be gratefully received! Thank you x

It's really easy to stitch sheepskin on to them yourself. That's what I do.

Otherwise how about using Prolite Pastern Wraps? They are lovely and soft.

ETS I'm sure you could glue sheepskin onto rubber ones if you are not handy with a needle!

I have ken taur ones. Absolutely fab, hard wearing,no turning. Got mine from the lovely people at s Milners Melton Mowbray, give them a ring if they aren't not on their website, and they will post out.

There are overreaches on eBay £5.99 a pair, mine wears them on all 4 12hrs a day and for work. Never rubbed and he's a tb. They are double lock and a nice flexi thick neoprene. I replace mine about every 3 months but only because he slices his.

Great, thank you! Will have a shop and hopefully find something robust enough for her!
Strangely I never actually considered sewing the sheepskin on... I'm not that talented when it comes to sewing but how hard can it be..?!
Was actually considering the prolite wraps so good to know they're soft, thank you x
