I have a rug laundry, and PE rugs, (especially black ones), are the bain of my life. I use Nikwak re proofer, and always test my rugs to see if they are waterproof before I return them to my clients. Sometimes I have to use four times the amount of re proofer before it works. I phoned PE today, and they say they aren't aware of any issues! I am thinking of charging more for PE t/o rugs, or not taking them altogether. What are other peoples views?

I have quite a few PE rugs and haven't had any waterproofing issues after cleaning. My rug wash person did tell me that sometimes when the fabric gets old and faded it doesn't take the waterproofing agent as well but even my old ones have still been good afterwards. Even my lightweight rugs have stayed waterproof after many years.

Really interesting! I bought 2 a few years back. Busters so should have been good but leaked badly after a year or so. Didn’t come right after reproofing. I’d never buy another.

I’ve never had any rug that was fully waterproof after cleaning! I just patch clean the greasy inside bits now. Also try and use a thin sheet underneath
PE rugs are well made but far too heavy to handle, so stopped buying them.
