Love your username...but want to know...

Who else, after seeing this username on here spends the next hour walking around singing away the Elkie Brooks classic?

It can't just be me, surely?

Luckily...I love the song :D:D:D

Phew...thought I was headed to the loony bin :D

Then again...I think this scores pretty low on the list of things that should put me there

Thank you!:D

I, too, am an Elkie Brooks fan.

My username came about because I used to own a black Clydie mare called Pearl. Driving back home along the M18 after putting a deposit on her, sis and I refused to call her the name given to her by her then owners, who seemed to think that she was a gelding. Said owners had a string of nightclubs in South Yorks and appeared to be rather dodgy (we found out later that they were VERY dodgy), so what else could we call her?;)

I also had a striped cat called Melony. We do like names which amuse us.:)

I did think that perhaps my username gave away my age.

Not necessarily... It came out the year before I was born...lol. I just have a very broad taste in music and in music terms was born a few decades too late :-)

I'm a 34 yr old who loves Motown, Bob Dylan, Country & Western, Rod Stewart, Jonny Cash, Feargal Sharkey, but also many many modern singers too.

Age is irrelevant :D

I often wondered why Pearlsasinger ! I know the song but didn't realise thats what it was called ! I will probably now hum it every time I see your username.

I too love Jonny Cash, Bob dylan, Tom Waits (weird) and anything from modern (love Bonkers - Dizzee Rascal) through to Django Reindhart & Grapelli. Named our budgie Django. I grew up with Rock & Roll music as a kid so naturally my young daughter knows how to jive;)
But my favourite is the Soggy Bottom Boys :D:D from the film 'O Brother Where Art Thou'

I heard this song on the radio for the first time last week and I was like - ooooooooh! That's where it comes from! I always liked the name but had no idea it was a song.

I do :P It even came on the radio last week  For the record I am 22 Elkie Brookes was my Dad's contribution to my music education we have even seen her live :p Its also a cracking karaoke number!

I had never even heard of the song before :( But am now converted :). Age is immaterial to music taste I think, my 13 yr old son likes Eminem, Professor Green and Garth Brooks. :p

Everytime I see a post by Pearlsasinger I then go "pearlssss a singer, deedle dee dee" in my head.

I was just a twinkle in my dad's eye when that song came out. I saw it on a top of the pops 2!

So glad it's not just me and if you didn't do this, but now can't stop doing it, please accept my most humble apologies :D:D:D

The reason for the shocked face wasn't that I was surprised that younger people have good taste in music, more that I could hardly believe that it is so long since the song first came out. Doesn't time fly when you're having fun?

I played the youtube clip last night and enjoyed it all over again. I hadn't actually heard it for ages, so thank you for bringing it up.
