Hi, has anyone any experience of these please?

After being well & truly tanked off with at xc today I am on the search for some brakes! I've just come across the Bombers Bits with pelham fixings and it looks quite interesting as my horse much prefers a solid mouthpiece.

I also looked at the Pee Wee - sorry because I know bitting gets done to death but any thoughts on either much appreciated :)

Niether of these are going to help with breaks ,you dont say what you were useing on the day so hard to say what to try next but gags and swales bits are good for strong horses but if you have been in snaffle then you may not need something as extreme x

I use a Peewee on Fabio and its the bit he goes best in. I've found brakes are fine in it but every horse is different. The only thing i will change it for is if we hack in company where i need a waterford otherwise i have no control!
I've only ever used the PeeWee on the standard setting though, you can use it another way where it makes it a bit stronger but i've never had the need to. :)

Thank you guys, perhaps I need a rethink!

My horse is ridden in a Myler Mullen Barrel with Eggbutt cheeks - she is very fussy in the mouth and prefers things to be reasonably solid.

Last time I went xc schooling we switched to a cheltenham gag half way through to give me some control & once she was used to it she seemed quite happy. I bought a Neue Schule one and have hacked her in it only once before yesterdays xc and she again seemed ok.

Yesterday at xc she was throwing her head all over the place in the NS gag & seemed unhappy in it, we gave her some time to get used to it but as it was getting worse & worse we had to take it out & put her back in the Myler which I had taken with me just in case. She immediately settled in the mouth but just got faster & faster realising I had no brakes.

I need something reasonably fixed but that gives me more control than what I have - I'm not worried about working in an outline in it etc as it will only be used for xc and hunting.

Did you find a solution? I have a similar situation with my horse and have been considering Bombers bits (possibly the waterford pelham or waterford universal)?

Have you spoken to a myler rep? If your horse likes the mouth piece of the myler what about sticking with that but using different rings/sides? I've got one who has a myler hanging cheek snaffle for flat work and if we go xc or out in company he has the same mouthp piece but with slotted rings and a curb.
