(that must be one of the strangest titles for a post - only a horsey person would immediately know I was talking about!!!)

Anyway, with all this wet weather my 22yr olds frogs have gone very strange - quite crumbly and two big parts came off the central sulcus leaving this quite wide and open. He has been barefoot for 4 months now and this is the first significant change that has happened (My JRT was pleased as she promptly hoovered up the bits that came off - yeurghh disgusting!!!). He has been absuoutely fine and not foot sore at all ever since first day of shoes off. Is out 24/7 and on barefoot diet inc balanced minerals. Doesnt smell thrushy or look black and is regularly treated with red horse sole cleanser just to keep thrush at bay. They were like big old bits of leather albeit rather flappy and untidy before but quite concerned how deep and wide the central sulcus has gone in both front feet and the tissue is so soft and crumbly now.

Is it normal? ANything I should do? I did bring him into a stable with half bed of shavings/ half concrete floor to get them off wet field and dry today for 4 hrs.

Not lame = leave alone and stop looking at it.

Going for a hack would likely buff the raggedy bits nice and clean.

If you are worried then you can apply some Red Horse's Field Paste in any nooks and crannies to keep them clean.

Love the title :D
