I misread it as a peeing spot and thought this was about bladder weakness![]()
Huh interesting but no fly spray havent got near the saddle. Just trying to figure out maybe im cleaning wrongCould it be from fly spray? I have a funny bit on some nearly new leathers, then saw a post from a saddler advising of the damage some of them do
So glad it wasn't just me !I misread it as a peeing spot and thought this was about bladder weakness![]()
Ok so its fine that it is comming off?Surface finish sprayed on at the time of manufacture.
Prestige. Hmm maybeWhat brand of saddle is it? Some saddles are made of a cheaper leather that may be coated in some way? Maybe it is that peeling off? I had a pair of leather riding boots that did the same. There was no 'cure' for it, sadly.
Most will come off with time.Ok so its fine that it is comming off?
Hiya! I think like that because it peels off not comes off. I can just take it by end and peel it@cremedemonthe do you think it IS peeling? I'm not sure...some of the irregularity looks like deposits (some form of grease jockey?) to me, but photos are always a nightmare compared to actually seeing it!
Glycerine saddle soap is the worst thing for deposits on leather, it's generally sticky, attracts humidity and gets even stickier...I don't recommend it for that reaon.
Thanks Sbloom, I have given up suggesting people not use glycerine saddle soap.English leather is judged absolutely by not having coatings etc, the best stuff isn't coated. Italian leather can be different, how does the leather feel underneath? How old is the saddle?
I'd still say don't use glycerine saddle soap though, the ideal is to use what the manufacturer recommends or seek advice from your fitter. I generally say use what comes from your fitter but I'm rather partial to @cremedemonthe 's waxy conditioner for all English leathers![]()
