peewee bit

My sister uses one on her IDx, she also used one on her previous horse a clydexshire, she thinks they are great! They work well for the horse with a fleshy mouth and a thick tongue. They are sweet iron so that the horses seem to like the taste. Sister finds it effective for both steering and stopping, without being harsh. :)
 
I bought one for Fabio a few months ago as he was really fighting trying to get him to work properly, and getting his tongue over the bit with his lozenge link.

I was sceptical that it would help as much as the gumf on their website said, but i was pleasantly surprised!!! Its fantastic, they're not the cheapest of bits but its helped so much that its been worth every penny.

Instead of a 10 minute struggle trying to get Fab to drop his head and work in a nice outline, he's now actually offering it to me!
 
I have one, and I've used it on numerous horses without a problem, doing flat schooling, jumping, hacking, XC... Yesterday I rode a 5yo wleshie with steering issues who also likes to stick his head in the air in it - fab :D He wasn't very impressed at times when he attempted to sod off in the opposite direction and couldn't, but it did the trick ;)
I've also only ever had to use it on the first setting, which works really well and most effectively I found after experimenting with the other 2 settings :p
 
I was also skeptical about the pee wee but bought one on advise of one of my horses old owners, who said she went well in it. The bit has completely transformed my little sj mare. She has gone from being over bent (in pelham or kimblewick) or hollow (in gag) or strong (in any type of snaffle) to soft, relaxed, completely adjustable and round in her pee wee. I think she goes so well in it partly due to her mouth conformation (small DWB araby head with little muzzle and not much room in the mouth). I would say give it a go as they are fab bits, have also only had to use it on first setting.

I bought it for my horse that draws his tongue back as I thought it would help with his fleshy mouth and thick tongue. I had no steering either and he will turn off my leg and seat normally. I cant imagine how the curb setting works as the curb piece sort of flops about?? I thought this was just a very expensive thin sweet iron mullen mouth snaffle. Gosh thats a mouthfull. :D
 
Can you explain what you mean by "first setting" as I can't see how it has varying settings? I have just received one thrtought he post on 1 month trial and only have the info.on the official website, which mentions nothing about settings. It says the strap is not to be used as a curb and should always have two fingers space, so I can see nothing else that can be changed.
 
I had one on trial from a website for a month and thought it was brilliant, however, it is not for every horse as I could see a lot of them objecting to it. I think it seems a bit like marmite but the horse I needed it for worked brill and he used to fix his head and tank off with me I could stop him in the pee wee.
 
I had one, it was great in the school, but took him to a fun ride in it and had NO brakes at all. I had to aim him at the steepest hill I could find to stop him! The straight bar meant he could take hold. I sold it on eBay shortly after. I'll stick with my Neue Schule Tranz Universal!

They seem to have changed how they market it now, and originally they did describe it as having varying 'settings'. You can use it how they seem to suggest you should now, obviously (setting 1)
Or with the 'arms' dangling, so the 'curb' sits lower down, reins still on main ring. Supposed to further aid steering or something?
Third was same as 2nd, with the reins attached to the small ring.
My bit actually came with a leaflet explaining these! (which I have unfortunately lost...)
 
Thanks. Yes I guess they started marketing it with as many possible variations of use as possible. Though I can't imagine putting the reins on the small rings; it looks a bit severe to say the least!
