im going to do some riding horse classes in the summer how do i know whats the best pelham bit to use for my horse? i ride in a loose rings snaffle day to day

If the horse goes well in what he has try to stay with it but if you must change to a new bit try an keep the mouthpiece similar so a single jointed pelham might be an idea.

A rugby pelham has a extra loose ring to attach to a sliphead so it looks more like a double bridle.
Have you tried schooling and riding in a double bridle?
Then you could ride on the bridoon and not take contact on the durb rein,
