Evening!

Just wondering if this bit exists..? I'm after a straight-bar pelham but one that has angled shanks at the top. Erm, let me explain - my lad has quite a delicate mouth but quite a wide face if that makes sense. So I'm having trouble getting a bit to fit as if it fits in his mouth it's too tight where the cheekpieces join the bit.

Argh, it's too late for my brain obviously :)

Any thoughts, tack experts...?

Thank you - help yourself to left-over halloween sweeties if you like parmaviolets or refesher lollies..!

Its worth contacting Fylde Saddlery as they are pretty good on bits especially with pelhams being a popular bit for showing, i would be surprised if the chap had never had that question before and they can make pretty much anything

Another option is to find a pelham with enough space for a metalworker to put a kink in it for you

Hi Webble,

Ooh I don't know? I've been trying him in a straight bar mullen mouth (as a kind of simpleton's alternative to a pelham - couldn't face the double reins!) & the part where the bit joins onto the cheek strap is almost digging in to his face. Have decided it's too tight so I'll have to get something else & thought I'd just man up about the 2 reins :)

Was just going to call Ffylde but d'you think the flex rubber or weymouth would make a difference..? Maybe this is a common problem - he has a big wide face & a dinky little mouth, not that you'd know from the amount of food he can stuff in there at any one time :)

Thanks! x
