Which mouthpiece (i.e. jointed, mullen, ported etc) is the kindest on a pelham?

Or the weakest/least severe whichever you wish to call it?

Persoanlly i would go for a french link one.

Whats the reason your looking and whats the horse currently in?

Snaffle, well either a full cheek snaffle or a neue schule training snaffle.

I need to have him in a pelham for showing but have never tried one on him before so was thinking going for the least severe one would be best!

I would match one to your current bit. Keep the shanks short and that will help lessen the poll pressure.
Also if its a novice class you dont need a pelham can be a snaffle.

I have a mullen mouth short shank pelham already that i used on a previous horse so if mullen mouth piece is not too severe i may try that on him first then, if its too much may buy the french link version.

Mullen mouth is kindest. Try laying a french link mouthpiece over your forearm and take up some pressure, as you would on the reins. It really pinches and hurts! I really don't think french links are a soft option at all. Of course if you get rid of the french link and use a lozenge centre instead of the plate it reduces the pinching drastically. Don't know if NS do one but KK do a lozenge centre pelham. Pricey though, I'd try the mullen mouth first.
