I think it depends on the horse tbh.
Some horses have a preference but i think the flexi korsteel one will last longer as the rubber ones seemed to get chewed very quickly.
Also if your horse has a thick tongue it might be worth getting the thinner one :)

he is a cob but has tried the thick rubber style on, and he was ok, but i think would be more comfortable in a thinner one, just didnt know if it was like a happy mouth as he chewed on one of those lol

yes the happy mouths are also made out of polyurethane. Some people say they prefer them but my mare chewed on one and ended up with sharp bits on it.
If your horse is comfortable in the rubber one then go for it :)
