I know the outcome isnt good for this, but has anyone had any experiences good or bad, treatments/drugs they have tried?

My horse has got it from sedation we have got it down to normal size the muscle is still solid preventing us to put it back to place has anyone any knowlege of this before we decide to put him down?

I have no advice, but I'm sure other people will have. I just wanted to say, I feel for you, what a sad introductory post. I hope the outcome isn't as gloomy as you fear.

Also, have you tried posting this in the veterinary section too?

Is your horse a stallion? It was my understanding acp was only a problem in stallions and colts (could be wrong tho). Unless you find the appearance the problem I don't see why the horse would have to be pts? Clearly a bit of a prob for a breeding stallion though!!

Sorry just read your other post in vets. Poor horse. Is he troubled by it? How on earth did it happen? Def doesn't sound like paralysis. How about speaking to a vet that specialises in breeding/ai for advice?

He is currently at the vets who has spoken to vets alover the UK most of them saving hes doomed! He is a gelding the appearece isnt but if it doesnt get put back into the body soon it will start to die (which it has slowly) and with it being a major organ he cant live without it.

My vet has amputated the penis when in this situation and all went well. Horse is a bit messy when he pees but has recovered 100 per cent. Hope you manage to save him.

when i took my girly to the vets, there was a horse there that was having an operation that made him into a Heshe! It was slightly different because he had a large growth on his penis so it had to be removed, and they created a lady version for him :D as it was in passing i don't know how well it did but maybe this could be an option? fingers crossed for you xx

get hold of Minster Vets in York on the phone asap and ask for help, I under a Mr Collins is very clued up with this type of thing, do it quickly because the organ will die.

We turning him upside down and pushing it back in but failed due to the muscle being so ridgid.
Sadly after 2 weeks of trying he has been put down today.
Thank you for your comments.

So sorry for your loss Emily.

My youngster was PTS in June after having an operation as the anaesthetic had paralysed his whole back end, nothing could be done, you never think it could happen to you.

Big hugs xx
