My big lad who I was given earlier this year has shown a whole different side of himself tonight! The horse who came to me described as a 'dope on a rope - put your granny on him' turned into a complete naughty loon tonight, during one of our nice canters on the way home he suddenly stuck his head in the air, ears as far forward as he could go and took off flat out bucking all the way, my friend sat him out for quite a while but eventually went out the side door, the big sod then put his accelerator right down and headed for the field gate with my mare in hot pursuit. This is a horse that normally can't manage a canter for more than 30 strides but he has been super on his toes for the last week and he had an expression of pure nonsense through it all!
He's on the naughty step and fun activities curtailed until he has rediscovered his manners!
Before anyone says it, yes his back is checked, saddle refitted at the end of last month, feet done etc etc - just feeling extremely fit!

Oh bless him, well if hes back, teeth and tack are all fine, theres your problem, hes feeling too well lol

Hope your friends ok. x

It's obviously in the air.... Ron decided tonight that everything was out to eat him - he shied at a walker who said hello and then nearly fell over himself in his attempt to canter off with me (down the road away from said walker) - then kept going from steady sensible trot to extended trot in the hope I wouldn't notice travelling twice as fast as I wanted.
He threatened a buck when I smacked him for being nappy!! he never bucks!! he's just full of himself as he's fit, had a few days off and it's not hot and sticky any more. which can of course only mean one thing to a horse of little brain.... HUNTING!!!!!

Ah well - hunting was my plan too but after tonights display I don't know how popular he'd make himself! We have a pleasure ride this weekend so we'll see how he behaves then! At 19 I'd have thought he would be feeling quieter!
