Got told by a lady on my yard that another fellow livery had found out the was a case of strangles on another yard within our hacking route BUT wouldn't admit to which one:confused::mad:

I would have hoped if there were a case, that people would report it to other yards so it doesn't help she won't say where.

Any one local got/heard about strangle cases on your yards? If it's true, I would like a heads up to keep a cautious eye.

Discovered which yard it is now...not impressed that the yard owner has told their liveries to keep it quiet and being threatened to be kicked off if they tell.

Pls can you PM me which yard/area. I had heard of cases in Tongham and Yateley a few weeks ago but was unable to find out exactly where it was.
I keep my horses at home so find it hard to keep up to date with info like this and where to hack or avoid.
Thanks

I doubt very much you will catch strangles by hacking past an infected yard.

I'm pretty sure your horse has to come into physical contact with another, or share a 'wet' source i.e. water or feed bucket.

So as long as you (and the rest of your yard) aren't popping into the yard for a drink and to make friends with the horses, and you keep your distance from strange horses you should be fine.
