There's a guy here like that. He doesn't feed mine, and in any case the public can't get close to mine to feed them, but he insists on feeding any horses in another nearby field 'because they look sad'.

He's been asked not to, but he brings his kitchen scraps when he walks his dogs and feeds them anyway 'because the horses look forward to his visits'

He seems like a nice enough chap to chat too, but he just won't stop feeding the horses ?‍♀️.

In March 2005 Northallerton magistrates heard Mrs Porter lost her temper after her estranged brother, William, laughed at her while driving past in his Land Rover.

She flung three sticks of rhubarb from her cottage window, catching him in the right eye with one of them.

Its like something out of a Benny Hill comedy!

In fairness, that's a pretty good shot from a window into a moving car!

This made me boil reading this. I was a bit huffy already.

glad to see the comments section in the daily fail mostly having a bit of sense today.

I remember a member on here saying they caught someone feeding their horses and they won’t stop because “it’s spoiling their enjoyment” or something along the lines of it.

A few years ago I had to chase a couple of elderlies who had snuck under the electric fencing, each pushing a large wheelbarrow of whole cabbages! They laughed at first while I was chasing the horses away from their one way ticket to colic, then got all huffy and claimed that the horses were "hungry" and that the field was "bare" (field full of grass and several fresh round bales just around the corner), and finally screeched obscenities when I made them to pick the cabbages up and leave.

Apparently, I can be scary when I'm angered. :D Left that yard soon after due to other reasons, but intrusive neighbours was one of them. Let's not even mention the time when I caught a different neighbour sneaking into the fields with fresh cheese baguettes....

A farmer I know regularly asked a woman not to feed the feral Shetlands in his field. He fell ill, the woman took advantage and fed them carrier bags of apples and loaves of bread. One then got laminitis and some-one reported him to the RSPCA. It was years ago and all parties are long gone but it still makes me cross when I think about it.

Why do people feel they have the right to do this? Just because the horse is in the countryside and they happen to pass it in a field, they then feel they have a right to feed it. Craziness. I'd be absolutely furious if anyone ever did this even once to my horses without my consent. Id also ensure I electrified the fence with a fair zap in it on the side closest to the person!

An old cob I knew apparently was fed potatoes by someone and died. Poor old boy. It’s a nightmare if you have to keep your horse in a roadside field. Am very lucky that I don’t. Do not feed signs and CCTV signs are probably the best defence.

I get frustrated by people wanting to feed my horse treats when I am arena hiring. He is very food oriented and it makes him pushy. He gives them the big “feed me” eyes. One of the worst offenders was a former instructor who stuffed him with treats and ignored me asking her not to.

at the yard where i rode we had a problem of land owners mowing fresh grass then piling it in the field for the horses to eat... trainer told them not to bc horses can get ill from that but they didn't care as far as i remember. luckily it was removed before any horse got ill
