I personally only asked for two tickets to the cross country, and I am pleased to say got them.

But people who asked for loads of tickets are sad that they did not get all of them. If we all only brought tickets we wanted not excess then it would have been fairer.

I also belive that a higher percentage got there tickets that thought. But people with tickets feel bad saying they got them.

I applied for 3DE XC and SJ, and got nothing, and don't have any friends who were successful either, but I was at a party in the Midlands this weekend, and loads of people had been successful with their applications.

Nope, I only applied for eventing and dressage and neither I nor any of my friends managed to get tickets....

Well, of course you are not going to complain as you got what you asked for.

I didn't and feel really hacked off about it.

So, I assume you think it is perfectly reasonable that Thomas Cook can force me to stay in a hotel in order to watch an event that costs £60 and charge me £2500? When I only live 20 minutes from the venue ...

sorry my daughter applied for 2 x x country and dressage an got none - but guess if had £30K to gambol then would have - sorry im pissed that the people with money get £11K plus of tickets but us nothing - welcome the rich - and if been fair id be happpy - there must be a fairer way with new tech stuff? mmmmm guess will watch then go and snuggle my olympic lass - well to me she is :) xxxx

I feel I have every right to grumble - I applied for two dressage final and two cross country tickets, and got neither set. There are people out there who applied for many sets and got more than one set allocated to them. That makes it entirely unfair, in my opinion. I will grumble and moan about it all I like. I hardly see how two thirds of applications (or however many it was - I forget) being unsuccessful can be seen as "a higher percentage got there[sic] tickets that[sic] thought" as you said. You got what you want. Lucky for you.

Oh get on you miss high and mighty, don't know who the hell you think you are!

Obviously people are going to complain about not getting tickets when they tried for every possible horse event and didn't get a single one, then there is people like you who only apply for a mere two tickets and get them!

We applied for all showjumping, all the eventing with every price range and didn't get a single one.

If you don't like people complaining, I suggest you click the log out button.

Exactly this!

...apart from I don't live 20mins away!

Huh?

but team GB get out there - give me that moment to shed a tear - some years ago (16 i think ) i set alarm got up in early hours and when that team stood for silver i stood so proud and shed atear so to our brilliant equeatrian people go show what team GB is about go make us proud and show the world what we have - horse and rider - go go go woooo hoooooo lets just get behind the whole team and show our support - stands and dances " go GB go GB go GB" :)`

Seems like the whole system has been a farce - especially as you could just do a straightforward purchase through online sites abroad.

Can I please moan? Applied for 3 SJ tickets, that's all & didn't get them. & I don't know anyone that did get tickets either. If I had money I would have applied for tons in the hope of getting something. All I've got now is 2 gutted girls :(

Huh?

Not sure what the "huh" refers to. I shall explain the Thomas Cook comment. TC is "officially" allowed to charge £2500 for watching the cross country for ONE TICKET as they supply overnight accommodation therefore justifying they are not overcharging for the £60 ticket. They are going to make a fortune as the hotels they are using are less than £200 a night normally. So the Olympic Committee has basically touted tickets to Thomas Cook so they can charge £2500 for one person to watch the cross country. I think that this is totally unacceptable as this has meant that the general public who do NOT have £2.5k just lying around have lost even more opportunities to watch the popular events.

what im trying to say is "its done ok so lets get behind our teams" lets give the support and let them know we are behind them as bugger that we got no tickets me and daughter are getting in to olympic mode and just bring it on lol :)

Oh it doesn't matter how many you applied for and at what cost apparently!

No I feel ok about moaning. I only applied for one pair of tickets to the xc. I considered applying for the dressage or the 3de dressage too but decided I didn't want to risk getting several sets and being stuck for accomodation and transport and so on.

I didn't get any tickets, yet some people have tickets to half a dozen events.

I feel justified in moaning because the Olympic bid team have selected a venue that they have known throughout will only hold one tenth of the people who go to badminton! Makes sense huh?

I've been for spectating at eventing since it was called hunter trials and would have loved to have gone to the Olympics.

Would have been better if it had gone to France.

I don't think it is fair what Tomas cook are doing, but I also don't think it is fair that people did and buy tickets they did not want. I am on the side of the people that did not get tickets because people like tomas cook have loads of tickets.

I feel really fortunate to have got 2 tickets to the event sj and medal ceremony, i also applied for 2 x xc but never got them.
None of my mates got any and others ive spoke to have lucked out as well, i feel really sorry for the folks that didnt get but im not gonnae feel guilty because i was lucky enough to get something, and im really excited about going, i agree the method of getting was absolute rubbish.
I nearly died wi my legs up when i saw the prices thomas cook were charging for hotel and xc, its a bloody disgrace

i applied for three sj tickets and got none and my brother applied for a bunch to :-( we live in the west country and the only reason we applied was that our family live in east london about 5 mins tube ride away ;-) My cousin up london applied and got all that they wanted ;-)

I'm glad I applied, but not completely disappointed that I now don't have to book extra staff to work while we're away, pay for the dogs to go into kennels, horses to be cared for etc, and travel from Devon to London (I loathe London) and out the other side to Greenwich (why couldn't they have used Windsor?!). I can watch it on the telly (if the BBC show the horse events, nothing is a given these days) in comfort!

And those who have got tickets, don't feel guilty, enjoy them, take lots of pictures and post them on here afterwards please!

Two thirds of the people who applied for tickets didn't get any. How can you ask them to stop moaning? This is a once in a lifetime opportunity and the vast majority won't be able to experience it. I was so looking forward to the equestrian events and the tennis but I didn't get anything. I feel I have every right to moan!

The whole Olympic organisation has been a farce so far.

Things like an Olympic shooting venue being built costing millions when it would have cost a lot less to upgrade Bisley which is our national venue. The new venue will of course be torn down after the Olympics.
Still at least our pistol shooters will be able to train at home for once without being arrested for the possession of a prohibited weapon.

The tickets were a total fiasco and unfortunately as I do not want to get sky this means that I will now not see any events I am remotely interested in as the sports coverage on terrestrial TV is so poor unless you like track and field.

Perhaps I should have tried to get someone in Europe to buy tickets for me as it seems they would have had more chance or perhaps the Libyan goverment will have some of their allocated tickets spare.

Anyone know when the next one will be somewhere in the UK?

Craig

It really annoys me that non-British people were able to bid for tickets as well. I know of at least one American (who is the owner of an almost certain team horse) applied for lots of show jumping tickets, regardless that she will get owners passes, as well as various other events. I was a little smug when I got tickets for the individual final and she didn't (she got tickets for the qualifying rounds) but I feel very sorry for British showjumping followers who were not successful. I think BS, BD & BE should have been allocated a number to sell to members to ensure that true equestrian supporters were acknowledged and non-British/overseas people should have been able to buy tickets separately at a later date .

Competitors get two tickets. Someone on one of the other forums is the sister of one our olympic rowers who won a gold at Beijing. She had to go into the draw with the rest of us and did not get a ticket. How do you think she feels.
