Dorey is more than "Just a horse"!!
I taught her a trick years ago, it's called Ask. She has to Ask if she wants a treat.
She then spent 3 years at stud. I spent one of those years in australia.
I come back, having missed her immensely. She looks at me, realises I have bought her some treats, and Asks for them...
Since then she's realised she does not just need to ask for treats!! She asks for anything, it's hard to tell what because you don't have to be holding anything - but she Asks to go out and come in, have her feed, have hay - she's even asked for water!
To the "who kicked who" issue, we had a mare who was found guilty of full on attacking a couple of other horses. After a full investigation by the vet, she was found to be healthy but was not suitable to live with other horses. So we had her shot.
The woman who accused her of attacking all the other horses has since turned around and whined "I didn't actually think you'd go through with it". Which makes me wonder how many of the attacks were real
Karma struck, however, and 9 months after our girly was shot, the woman who made the accusations had her mare shot after being kicked in the field.
I did wonder if our Mare's ghost must have come back and kicked her..
So if any of these "your horse hates me!" types are reading - do bear in mind what your actions can result in.
