Depends on size of horse and what else you are feeding with it! Easier to work out dry weight before soaking as well, as the amount of water people add varies!

oh ok!!well....its about 3 heaped cups dry weight? And he is also getting 2 heaped cups baileys outshine and large scoop of baileys topline cubes...and a cup of sunflower oil. Yet he is still skinny?should i be feeding more?

i feed alfabeet, but i don't add it to my horse's normal meals. i soak enough to fill a bucket, and give it to him next to his trough and leave it in over night. he usually eats about 3/4s of it, but he'll clear it up if its cold or he's hungry, or eats less if he's not been doing much work.
any thats left in the bucket i put into his breakfast so that it all gets used up. he loves it, and has it really sloppy in the summer with electrolytes in for rehydration.
it was the dengie rep that told me to feed it like this for weight gain, so i guess it can't be too far wrong.

I use kwik beet two scoops a day 2 build up baileys 2 large scoops alpha with oil.Since he has been on this diet he maintains his weight all winter. He was a skinny tb weighing 350 when i bought him he know stays at 540 most of the year.Maybe the dengie alpha a with oil and build up would help.

What about adding some more fibre feed (alfa a oil) for example it menas they are eating for longer and that is quite condiitoning

he is a 16hh tb, being worked 3 days a week to include hunting/competitions and general hacking-looks like i need to up the feed intake?

Mine is living out and on holiday, but there isnt much grass so he gets half a scoop of dry mass a day and a full scoop of Hifi. Ideally your amount of Alfa Beet is fab, but may be worth addin some ALfa A or something just to bulk it out a bit more?
