People who own a yard, advice please on general expenditure :)

Im doing a business plan at A level and need to know prices for...

- Electric
- Water
- Insurance for dealer/stud yard
- Large horsebox general upkeep and insurance

Any help would be really helpfull

I dont own or run a yard, but what I do know is that electric & water will be based on amount used, so unless you specify type / size of yard it's impossible to give you a quote.

A yard with 10horses on daily turnout & lights in stables only (ie no arena lights) will use less than half the utilities than one which has the same number horses & no turnout but has a large indoor school to light all day & most of the evening.

You could take the angle of a green energy yard to reduce impact on environment & reduce cost.
Water collection tanks, wind turbines (small ones), biomass generator which burns the muck heap (possibility to extend revenue by other yards selling their muck heaps to you) & generates electric -some of which you can sell back to the grid.
