At people I mean.

I don't think there is any need at all! some examples...

Huntman on a mission - "get out the f*cking way!!!"
Fieldmaster on a power trip - "Hold hard!!! Get behind the FM!!!"
Old school marm - "OMG get out of that seed!!!!!"
People "helping" the newcomers - "KICK!!!!! KICK!!!!!"

:smirk: Is it just me?? :p

Well I guess there is normally a reason why shouting is occasionally justified. If people are aware of what they are doing and what is happening then there won't be a need to yell as they will have noticed the huntsman or whip approaching fast behind them, that the field master has stopped or that there horse is in danger of trampling on the drill.

As a bike follower I always try to be aware of what is happening behind me. a while back some people mounted on horses were ambling along three abreast oblivious to the car behind them until I shouted 'car please'

Time and a place for everything...

I agree, however when the back of the field suddenly becomes the front (20 odd horses flying the other way at canter)
I appreciate someone shouting "mind that horse", while I'm struggling to contain my novice ponio, on his first hunt.
Balance is the key I think.

NEVER any need for huntman/whipper in etc, to use F word at field or anyone - just plain RUDE!!! and IMO not professional

Good on FM keeping control of field-what are you doing overtaking FM???

again
YOU SHOULD NOT be on the SEED and if you are SO YOU SHOULD GET SHOUTED at to get OFF -this a cash we riding over!!!

never at back so don't hear that one

and yeah tis you - but i would say when you out and fields are over 100plus you do need people to be controlled - in hunting terms

So you have prob with folks shouting GATE please, hound on LEFT, wire on RIGHT etc...........

No of course not, that would just be silly! :)

I have a prob with people yelling at folk and making them feel like an idiot when it isn't nessesary! I know what I mean.... :p I just think it can make for an unpleasant atmosphere. Luckily we now have a lovely huntsman and 2 nice friendly FMs. :) not saying that they shouldn't keep control, but I think there is a way of doing it.

We had an old master years ago and he was a total legend, if anyone cantered past because they couldn't stop he would just laugh, but if someone was doing something they shouldn't be for the sake of it then they would get a bollocking... rightly so. :)

I know what you mean, 2 of our masters are ex army so we get barked at. You get used to it and start to ignore them.

ETS: I don't mean ignore them completely I mean ignore the tone and they way they say it.

I agree. Obviously, the 'ware hole' type shout is justified and an essential part. Kick_On, I think it was a bit daft to suggest Sb had a problem with this, she is clearly discussing a different type of shouting. However, I do totally agree that's it's so unprofessional to swear like that.

I think occasionally we have to bear in mind that yes, subscribers need a rollocking if they are out of line, of course they do, but there is as has been said a time and a place. They do, after all, fund the hunt at the end of the day, and are out to enjoy themselves, not be made to feel six inches big.

it does get quite annoying when ur trying to concentrate or listen for hounds and the plastic gang on thier horses are talking about what boy they fancy in school!
or when ur trying to pass someone and their talking so loudly about how great their horse or life is that they cant hear you. in hunting uve got to be loud and confident for people to hear to lol hehe
