...and worm for tape.

Do you have a specific program you stick to? What months do you get the counts done and what months do you worm for tape? And when you worm for tape, do you only worm for tape?!

Just wondering what other people do. :)

I get Westage labs to advise me, we worm count from March to September [they send out reminders by email.
For Nov/December [in the UK this is essential, worming for tapeworm and encysted redworm], I phoned Wormers-direct for advice, as I have moved to a yard with a different strategy, he wanted to know what I had used in the past 15 months and what was the plan for the Jan-March worming, he then advised Eqvalan Duo

no point in blood testing for tapeworm as this covered both parasitic worm species and my horse has no health issues.
All the horses in a yard should be wormed together and then stabled or all poop picked up.

I worm count every 6-8 weeks and worm only when absolutely necessary after nearly losing one of them to colic 12hrs after worming earlier in the year, I recently had bloods done for tape worm too. Never again will I worm without knowing it really has to be done!

I worm count allmy horses as for me it works out cheaper than buying wormers every 13 weeks or how ever often it is with every wormer. Much more easier to do, and i use Westgate Lab and there brillaint and very helpful. I normally worm count from MArch to september and as my guys are very low i worm count every 3 months then worm in Dec/JAn for Tapeworm and redworm (the ones that cant be picked up in a worm count, only via blood tests) Althou i still spend £9.00 on worm count every 3 months for 4 horses its defo cheaper and much better for the horse and my purse!!

I worm count my horse between March and September (every 10 weeks) and then worm in winter with appropriate wormer with advice from my vet. I worm count through my vet so we get remimders when we need to do counts and to worm and what with.

I worm count March to September too. I double dose Strongid-P in nov ,use panacur guard end of Jan [encysted] and then worm count from March and only worm if the result says they need worming.
