People with Cheval Liberte trailers?

Can you travel a horse with the back mesh section clipped down? (hopefully that makes sense!)

I wouldn't travel a horse in an ifor with the top metal doors closed but I'm wondering if it would be ok given that its a mesh and there is airflow? My logic was that it might be less stressful for a horse to travel if they can't see all the traffic etc behind them. Obv I would open the windows and the roof to allow as much air flow as possible.

I suppose you could, but it would stress my horse out more to not be able to see what is making the noise behind him. Try it and see?

I do if its raining we have the 3 horse version so its herringbone, meaning the one on the back gets a bit damp if its really raining

Yes, I do when it is raining. The mesh still allows ventilation through when it is down. Never caused any problems.

I love mine. Its the only trailer I've ever towed but I have travelled horses in friend's trailers and prefer mine. Very well designed and easy to use. I have the single horse version and its really roomy.

have the floor checked before you buy hhp, problems with them atm

Capriole am I right in thinking the floor problems are in the trailers manufactured before 2009?

I honestly cant remember now wellsat. There was a period of time where they appear to have been using substandard wood when making the floors and a whole argument about them being recalled in one country and not another, ie here.

As I said, trailer floors always need checking for safety on any trailer, but if anyones looking at buying a CL Id check out other peoples experiences on here using the search function so you know exactly what problems there have been so you can hopefully avoid going the same way

I have a single cheval liberte, and it is great to tow, horse likes it, it has an aluminium floor (bought new in June 2011) and its towed by the family car.

However, one word of warning re single trailers. The front breast bar is a fixed piece of metal, and does not fold down like the breast bar in a double, instead it solts in and out - apparently this is the case for all singles, not just Cheval Liberte.

This can make unloading on your own difficult as you need two hands to lift out the breast bar, so are not able to hold your horse at the same time - this can create a bit of a scary moment if your horse is a bit impatient!!!
