I’m really struggling with no animal contact but there’s nowhere to volunteer near me, don’t enjoy riding lessons at riding schools, I would get over attached if I fostered something, and buying a horse or part loaning is too much commitment for me to handle currently. I also don’t do very well with grief well no one does but I think if a pet of mine were to die with how i have been mentally recently it would kill me.

I would like to have a pet especially a horse I just can’t cope with that long term a commitment or the fear of them dying. And it can’t not be a long term commitment because of how attached I get.

What are your tips if you have gotten over these issues?

I agree with dog walking. Could you offer small animal holiday boarding/home visits? I used to do this a lot for colleagues when I was younger and had more time.

My friend was similar to you. Her mum bought her a puppy when she was 16, and my friend loved her so much she felt she couldn't even take doggo for a walk without anxiety or fear of something bad happening to her. So the dog ended up being her mum's companion instead.

Friend dog sits for people & is a dog groomer, so she made her love of dogs her job without full commitment.

No idea how old you are but do you drive? It may be worth venturing out to a different riding centre that can offer voluntary work.

Defo speak to someone, there are so many free helplines and charities who can help you or point in the right direction.
