...hows it going?
I think I may as well have had another baby, Brandy is nearly as much work! But gorgeous and so much cuter than a baby!

What are yours Joeanne?
Someone came to the door hence my post originally was a bit short!!
Brandy is great but torments the older dogs something rotten. Sash my lurcher has had a word in her ear a couple of times now so generally Brandy will leave her alone but Poppy the border is having a hellish time. Poppy goes to work all day cutting down willows so is tired when she gets in but it seems unfair that she should have to be shut away and not be able to potter about like she normally does. Brandy has a hypo time from about 5.30 - 7 and has now leaned to climb the stairs, Poppy's last refuge! We now hit the floor with a rolled up paper to get Brandy to stop but Poppy is a rescue and its making her nevous. They have to have alternate times out.
But she sits, walks on the lead, retrieves to hand and is 98% housetrained so not bad for 9 weeks!

We've got a litter of 4 patterdales that were born Thurs.. is that new enough??!!

They are easy at this age as Mum does all the hard work and cleaning up! Its once their eyes are open and they start walking that the chaos kicks in!!

Our other pup is now 6months old, she is a springer x lab and she is great, we chose to cage / crate train her which works really well and she is very happy with, she has been clean over night and in the house for over a month now which is so much better than the terriers who are very slow to house train!

Only problem with Pepper is that if you leave her out of her cage when you aren't around she gets herself up to all sorts of no good!!

The natural retriever instinct kicks in and she goes and collects things and chews them, she has chewed a hole in the doormat, and has even learnt to open the back door, she took OH's wallet off the side and emptied all the cash in the back yard so we had £20 notes fluttering round the yard!!!

She also realised that the hen eggs are up on the side by the sink until they are cleaned, she ate 5 the other day and had the most horrendous wind!!

My puppy was 9 weeks on Sunday !! She's doing brilliantly except absolutely hates the car !!!! For safety (saloon car!!) have strapped mesh carrier to the back seat. Breeder said to be strong and ignore her cries and that we hope she should be better within a week of so.

She peed and pooed in the garden this morning and has slept every night without crying ! I love her and absolutely hate being at work as I can't see her (she goes to my Mum's when I'm at work). It's like leaving your baby behind (well she is my baby!!)

She is eating brilliantly !! Really pleased with the house training considering the weather has been so dire. I have been taking her outside, waiting, but then if she hasn't been, bringing her back in to warm up and then taking her back outside again.

Flead and wormed her yesterday.

SHE IS GREAT !!! Sorry I'm waffling, but have bad case of 'Puppy Luuurve'

I think the having a baby is a good metaphor, except that what takes a year/years with a baby only happens on a few months with a puppy.
My two are 7 months now and they're already teenagers and have been for a while, so if you feel it's a little much(?), I can comfort you with that if you're consistent and maybe takes a few deep breaths now and then, it doesn't last for long.

Personally I feel that for every puppy I have, I become more relaxed and take more things with a shrug. Now I don't feel that I have to correct everything at once, without focuses on a few things I feel is most important at a time and I've learned how to make sure that they simply don't get the chance to do some things wrong (f. ex. with the help of harness + long line or small rope-tie).

I don't know if it's a good idea to say this or not, because I really don't want to encourage anybody to get two puppies at the same time, but since I ended up keeping two of Jonna's puppies, I can only confess that I think it has been surprisingly easy. Things like that "What one doesn't think of, the other one does" etc, this far it doesn't feel as if any of it has come true. But I claim it is due to that they've inherited my Jonna's lovely temperament and maybe just a tiny little bit also due to myself.

Cocoa is now 14 weeks old, getting HUGE!

She is gorgeous, looks totally angelic - note i said LOOKS angelic!!!

She is a little monkey though, she has been a nightmare to toilet train (has thankfully learnt now), constantly tries to play fight with our 4 year old dog, bruce, -he just lets her attack him, he is very laid back!

She always wants feeding, loves to lie in georges stable and cover herself in shavings, immediatly sits down and holds up her paw every time anyone passes the treats jar, and generally entertains us
