Somebody asked a while ago about the 'perfect' hybrid' dog (and given that I used to be a vet and got very tired of the planned obsolescence of pedigree dogs, this thread will take it as read that a hybrid is A Good Thing) - so I was just lying in the bath thinking of what my perfect hybrid would be. It goes like this:

take one strongly built, tail-up, got-get-it, but friendly, nicely blue brindled whippet bitch and cross with nice-minded, sane, balanced (if you can find one) strongly brindled Staffie dog

Take bitch puppy with best temperament from litter and cross with nice-minded, sane, balanced (etc) rough-coated Patterdale dog

Meanwhile, take sane, friendly (they all are) red working cocker bitch (must be working , none of the show strains) and cross with sane, sorted, sensible (if you can find one) tricolour working sheepdog

take rough coated bitch puppy from the whippet/staffie/patterdale cross and put to nicely marked dog puppy from the collie/spaniel litter

and voila! The Perfect Puppies. Keep nicely marked bitch and give others to sane, sorted, sensible (if you can find them
