Ok so I'm starting into hard training and competitions now and usually I feed naf energ and electrolytes.
However after feeding for a week she seems to have gone a bit foot sensitive again, I'm guessing as only change is the supps maybe this is the problem?? There can't be enough grass coming through yet to make a difference-can there?

Any suggestions on alternative supplements?

On the electrolytes front - unless you are doing high level endurance in hot weather, I would just stick to salt.

For electrolytes to be effective for performance they need to be given not more than 4 hours before work and any excess will just be pee'd out anyway.

Loss of sodium will cause a loss of potassium as a side effect and loss of chloride has been theorised to result in poorer performance (and a horse can run out of chloride after just 2 hours).

Where can you find sodium and chloride???

Oh yes....good, old fashioned, cheap salt ;)

Feed 25g/day maintenance. More when sweating PLUS free access to a pure salt lick at all times.

No I never went down the boot route in the end as she has been so good!

I play horseball so its same sort of demand as high level polo so i do prefer to feed electrolytes, rather than just salt and she does sweat bucket loads! I normally have this in her morning feeds before playing and in her water all day at matches, evening feed after as well.

Not sure that balancer is really what im looking for but thanks Obereon.

Maybe it is just the grass? Just all reared it head at the same time typically so i cant just eliminate it to one thing!
