Hi quick question,
My horse was treated by my EDT Monday and had a periodontal pocket in his lower jaw at the back this has been cleaned treated and packed. He is on bute for a few days as the vet said it can be quite painful. He said he should be ok to be ridden.

My question is how painful and how will I know it's ok.
What effect will a bit have bearing in mind it is very far back in his jaw.

He last Had EDT in May.

I'm not an EDT. I don't know about peridontal pockets either but i have horses with teeth problems. If he is eating ok without quidding, and eating his normal amount and looks happy in himself then he is probably not in much pain.

At last life on my query thank you. I asked because on Wednesday I hacked out and it was not good. Phoned vet and he said oops maybe he needs a few days so that is what I am doing vet said it can be v painful so wasn't sure how long it would be before I could start breathing normally again.
