Not happening to me, but mum was telling me when she used to live up North and kept her horse where she taught he was a 17 hh ex hunter, who spent many years of his life out with the hunt.

A woman on the yard would play the sound of the hunt hounds on her phone to wind up the horses and it was caught on the cctv, as my mum and other owners were confused as to why their horses were coated in sweat and box walking when they went in to the barn. The person doing it was the daughter of the YO and therefore got away with it and continued to wind the horses up. Mum said she put her horse out and gave up his stable due to this, she couldnt move yard as she was threatend with loosing her job !

*** This is no longer going on, said horse is over rainbow bridge and riding stables shut down *****

What would you do if you knew someone was winding up your horse in this way.

They would be told to stop no matter who the heck they were related to and if they didnt stop it violence would probably ensue the next time they were caught

Leaving a horse boxwalking and shaking in a stable isnt on. I tease my oldboy with mints as he dances and begs for them but he always gets some and doesnt get in a state but the above is summat else entirely

I knew saw someone wind up one of the horses at a stable i used to help at. She would walk past the horse and grunt at her, poke her, clap her hands in horse face etc. This horse is the loveliest, sweetest girly you could ever want in a horse. Horsey had enough and sank her teeth into the girls shoulder, got a full set of teeth marks. Girl never did it again and got her @rse booted off the yard. Poor horse is such a gentle creature and didnt deserve that (not that any animal does). Its the only time in the 18 years iv known her, that she has shown aggression towards anyone.

Reckon girl was taught a valuable lesson ;)

Pfft good on her bless ! I'd give her a whack to ! I watched something on youtube of a young girl slapping a horse on the shoulder repeatadly till it picks her up by the hair and throws the girl :D I always think people like that need a good telling off be it by a horse or human

The kids were winding up one of the horses today. He's a big 18hh hunter that has anxiety issues apparently! Anyway, the 3 kids when going 'boo' and jumping at him while screaming. He started not rearing quite but jumping around.. It was quite scary but the children just thought it was funny!

When mom was younger she used to compete against a certain, now high profile, show jumper who was known to be a snotty nosed little **** and race his poor pony around after jumping it all day until it nearly dropped.

At one show Nan (all 5ft nothing of her!) had enough of him and hauled him off said sweating, shaking pony, and dumped him on his backside on the floor.

Having washed pony and cooled it down, she presented it to said brats mother and gave her an earfull about her delightful child... pony was never seen raced around a show again :D

Try doing that now!! :p

I hope the children got their arses kicked for it!

Same as marychristmas. About 2yrs ago another livery took to bringing a non horsey boy with her temporarily, some relatives with childcare issues. We have a fear aggressive, but super sweet & trustworthy with kids pony. Said lad found it amusing to wave a whip over the door at her, while she was eating hay on the floor near door. Said livery caught him, tore a strip off him & told me. Lad continued to do it unwatched, until one day she heard a cry, pony had got hold of his arm, ripped his coat through & left a whacking great bruise. Which livery, his parents & I all thought served him right. Same pony, but different livery, objected to silly woman bucket feeding her horse in the field & not her too. Silly woman tried chasing pony with a whip, resulting in silly woman being chased by pony. Not just then, but for a while after whenever she went in field. I found it hilarious.

I never get why parents do not educate children round animals from when i can remember i have been taught to respect animals. Once i chased our old rabbit Po round the garden for 10 minutes so mum made me come in and sit in the dark cuboard for 10 minutes :D:o

At the old livery yard (really read battered old farmyard) we couldn't understand why OH's new horse was becoming quite stressed and aggresive when in his stable...

....until I caught the kids of one of the liveries teasing him with carrots and sugar, it was driving him insane!

Cue me going totally NUCLEAR!!!!!!! and those kids and their parents didn't dare so much as breath in the direction of any of our horses....

We then moved, and normality was resumed. :D

I broke in a horse that went ballistic if anyone spat near him. When he went off into training I caught three lads stood outside of stable just out of range, spitting.
I walked up behind them and banged their heads together - hard.
That stopped that nonsense!
I agree that the phone would be accidentally dropped and stood on if I caught her doing it.

Could have done with you on one of our old yards! Thinking of it, my aunts pony (no longer with us :() was turned out over night as a youngster, some lads got in the field, he was such a sweet natured pony you could do anything with him, these lads got on him and hammered him round and round the field and broke his wind, he was found collapsed in the field and had to have an emergency tracheotomy which he had the rest of his life.

As you can see from the pic, even in his 20's he was a fun well loved pony, amazing at gymkhana, and sadly missed :(

Oh my god.....I'd be put away for murder....

My old mare was a grouch in the box- even after 8 years I was still very aware of what her teeth were doing...

When on box rest she was particularly arsey. So the last time I warned everyone to stay away from her box, leave her in peace and keep kids away- she'd bitten me three times the week that I walked in and found nine year old son of livery directly outside her door jumping up and down with his back to her and making an unholy racket. Behind him, unnoticed by child or ditzy mother, was Grot. Ears flat, eyes wide, nostrils pinched, teeth out and snapping and head moving closer every time his head appeared over her door... She was about three inches from scalping the little brat when I chucked him out of the way.

The mother looked at me gone out and asked why the horse wouldn't want company when she's stuck in her box all day!!!

On a lighter note.. when I was very very much younger, my next door neighbours bought something that resembled a dying moth eaten elderly donkey for their very very small daughter. They wanted something completely safe (they were proper horsey folk!). Anyway said ex riding school monster turned out to be a particularly stunning dun section B. Said small child (who could barely walk unaided) could haul him along the verge, however when the older brothers arrived and wanted to ride him, the welsh (called Mr Jones!) went all Merrylegs on them and royally took the pee! hilarious! I think one of the boys may have thought about taking a whip to said pony, but pony disposed of him before the parents caught him doing it..!
