Hello :)

I was just hoping for a bit ofadvice about writing my personal statement section for entries onto Foundation Degree courses.

I know the basics etc. but what will really make me stand out?

PM if you prefer :) thank you! x

You need to include what motivates you, your strengths, what makes you different from everyone else. I expect you have heard this all before anyway. I can PM you my personal statement if you want. Its for a nursing course so not sure if that would help. :)

Cider loving mare that would be great if you could :)

And Equine Science courses and Equine Rehabilitation and Therapy

I recently had to throw together a personal statement last minute for a course application- but thankfully I got an interview so can't have been too bad.

I included why I wanted to go down that career route. Why I wanted to do that specific course and what I like about the course. Why I wanted to go to that Uni. My strengths and skills. Any relevant work experience. What you would like to do after the course.

You should write as a general template:
Paragraph1 = Why you want to do the course, mention any work experience here, and where you would like to be as a specilast

Paragraph 2 = what qualilites you have that make you a perfect candidate for your course

Paragraph 3 = other interests and achievments :)

mine was very long at all. iv applied for a foundation degree in inclusive practice, it was rather short and sweet, but i work at the college so know the person oncharge of the course, you dont need to ramble to much just make you stand out abit more, make sure you spell check it! are u applying for this year or next year coz you have to check if there still acepting for this year, mine closed in march

Make it succinct and get it spell checked and read through by people to be sure it reads easily.
I agree with only me. 3 stages.
1. Hi, this is who I am, what I have done and want to do:
2. This is why I think I will be good in this course, mentioning some of the more specialist things they offer shows you have read the prospectus:
3. This is where I want to take the career that you will be preparing me for, possible options, ideas etc.
Key words are focussed, dedicated, team member, leadership: any things that show you have experience in functioning in this area, i.e.: caring for sick horses and vet discussions, attending clinics etc, your interest and enthusiasm must be apparent.
For me when choosing a working pupil in the old days I liked it when the statements bounced out at me with passion, these were the ones we would call to interview.
Good luck!
