Pessoa help??

Hi everyone
So I am thinking of getting a pessoa and just had a few questions, as they are rather expensive and I dont want to be wasting my money.

1) Do you think they are any good and do they help with your horses?
2) Do they last well?
3) Are there any alternative items that are cheaper?
4) where is the best place to buy them from (cheapest)?

The Pessoa I ride my boy in is amazing, fits both of us so much better than anything else - its my 'armchair' saddle! Really recommend

Hey

I've just bought a pessoa for my cob and find it is really handy for re-enforcing our work in the school. I'm a novice rider and just starting to get him to work in an outline and track up, so two days a week I lunge him in the pessoa and I find it really helped him understand, and built up his muscle (he's still quite young).

I really read up about them before using it, and stuck to the instructions. I did keep it quite loose to begin with so he got the idea but picked it up very quickly. I use it on the first setting designed to make them work long and low to stretch their backs.

I bought mine of ebay for £25 inc postage. so I throughly suggest looking on there. They're often advertised under 'training aid' as some are the same things but without the 'pessoa' branding.

I really recommend them, just make sure you read up and use them correctly and only for short time spans to begin with. Some people recommend other lunge training aids similar to the pessoa (I can't think of their names!) which may be worth a try if you see one on discount but as always, do what you find works best for your horse

fits from about 13/13.2 upto a very very long 16.2 in my experience so far

Very useful tool

I never use anything bar the setting inbetween their front legs as I dont think its needed, but its really good for getting them working over their backs

I fit mine fairly loose as I believe it should be a suggestion not a force, but all of them work lovely with it like this

Just looking at them myself on ebay - some good ones without the branding - found this thread really useful.
