Hiya,

I have just taken on my sisters horse, really nice mare but been totally wasted and ridden sooo badly for the last 7yrs!!

She's a 15.3hh, 16yr old, lightweight polish wb mare.

she's been doing very little for the last 3months but I'm now starting to bring her back into work and am thinking about investing in a pessoa to help build her up during lunge work.

I know that pessoas work very well as used to use them at yards I worked at in the past but they are pretty expensive.

I have seen various models that claim to work just as well if not better that are alot cheaper but Im very dubious!!!

Just wanted to know if anyone uses the cheaper models and whether its worth buying one of them or if they are rubbish and if its best to spend a bit more for something that actually works?

many thanks, Ellie and Kara xxx

I have the John Whittaker one, its great and comes with a roller

I can't remember what make mine is, but it was one of the imitation ones on ebay I think I paid £25 for it and it has been fab and looks/works like the real thing!

Nothing to do with the OP but I had to do a double take on this post, I thought it was something I posted...sleep posting again

I got an imitation one from ebay that is almost identical to the real thing and was alot cheaper! Think it's great, only thing i was concerned about when i ordered it (as it was cheap) was that the pulleys etc. would all run smoothly and they are fine! My friend advised me to rub candle wax on them every now and again just to keep them smooth though!

Good luck with the new girly!
