What are peoples thoughts on the new style Pessoa saddles, the ones with the changeable gullets?
How do they ride and what sort of horses are your horses that fit them?
I'm thinking about maybe getting one. I hate choosing saddles it's such a minefield :/.

I had the legacy XP3 jumping saddle (think that was its name) when they first came out, although that was probably 6 years ago now so not really 'new'. Perhaps you are referring to a different newer model?

Anyway, it fitted the narrower more TB type I had well. When I got my next horse that was chunkier and wider it wasn't so good, rolled around horribly and there wasnt enough adjustability to it to stabilise. So I ended up selling it.

It was a nice saddle to ride in, probably somewhere inbetween a flat minimalistic monoflap and an older fashioned blocky jump.

Thank you, very helpful.
I was thinking maybe the one above...
We don't have any English general saddle fitters in our area only reps for different brands which is irritating.
It's a bit of a stab in the dark but this saddle is reasonably priced and very easy to pass on with the changeable gullet if it doesn't fit.
I don't really *want* a new saddle but now I'm jumping bigger I'm finding it hard to keep a good position in my GP.

I have one. I ride my welsh D in it. In fact it i have used it on both my mares. Comfy to ride in and feels fairly secure. The only problem was when the mare I brought it for changed shape the next size gullet was too big so I ended up not changing it for her. Luckily as it is it fits my four year old, so disaster was averted

I have older pessoa made by a master saddler and it is a beautiful saddle, I have refused to sell it for over £700.
however my friend got the gullet one and its just not the same, and its really heavy.
