firstly, a huge thank you to druid, I made myself a pessoa as per her excellent instructions for the cost of about £10 and it worked beautifully.

A couple of quick questions for those of you that have one. How do you know how tight to make it? Daisy had hers on quite loose tonight because it was her first time in one and she's not used to working in that sort of shape. Do I just tighten it up a little bit a week? It didn't do much more tonight than stop her going like a complete giraffe and hoolying round on the lunge like she usually does. I had it on the setting between the legs and even then her head was pretty high.

Secondly, and I suspect it may be related. I had problems with the sheepskin rucking up a little. As she moved her legs it seemed to gather a little in between them meaning that the rope was more on her legs than it should have been? I wondered if it was just happening because the pessoa was on so loose that it had room to move around. Does this mean that I have made part of it wrong?

Your thoughts gratefully received

I'd start off with it quite loose and maybe tighten it a bit once she's warmed up. Then you can loosen it to let her wind down. Then gradually loosen it a bit less as she gets used to it.
I didn't have the problem with the sheepskin so can't comment. It never occured to me to make one - although I did buy a cheaper copy. Mind you I'm useless at things like that so maybe its just as well!
