hi, ive a pessoa trainging aid for my horse which i have to use for him because of his op that he had for kissing spines, ive lost the info on it, i know how to put it on but want info on what levels of hook up works what, i know that when it is hooked up between the legs it works the back muscles which he needs because of the op, just wanted to know about the other levels and is it also worth working him on the other levels aswell as the one underneath.
sorry if this sounds abit confussing as im am
any advice greatly received or any one that could pm me any info or copy of instructions

Have you tried google-ing it, I bet there's instructions on-line somewhere..this is how I've found stuff in the past..so maybe worth a try.

Hi,

It depends on the surgical Vet but if he has recommended a pessoa I suspect it is Svend!! if this is the case he likes them working long and deep with their noses almost between their knees so for this reason one would tend to use the setting between their legs rather than on the roller sides. The whole idea is to make them really bascule over their backs which keeps the vertibrae open and build good back muscles. It may be worth you checking with your Vet first though. For future info the top setting of the D's on a roller is for an advanced (dressage) position which is quite severe if your horse is not muscled in that way so certainly wouldn't use this setting for rehab.

hi thanks for the replys and dressage-babe yes it was svend that did his op and i know that i have to use the lower level.
the lady that is helping me with his rehab wanted to know exactly how the pessoa works and i told her all i knoew was the bottom level is for him and his back but dont know the rest of the levels.
many thanks for your replys

If you are using a roller with 3 D's on each side plus the one betweeen the legs then starting from the highest D this is the most intense and for a well developed horse to maintain & build the ultimate topline so long has the horse has got really good muscle & balance already, this is why I said it was for an Advanced position, the next one down is roughly where we would hold the reins if riding novice / elementary level so it is a good way of producing a balanced horse with correct acceptance of the hands. Then you have the D's which are roughly by the buckles of the girth, this is to create a deeper position but will build the top line as well and is very good for transition correction for a horse that shoots its head up everytime it comes down a gear! that just leaves the D between the legs which is super for long and low work again for supplying and topline, I start off & finish off with this position with my horses (I work up and down the scale of the roller over 40 mins). Good luck with your horse, he is in good hands with Svend, he is a friend of my husband's, that how I knew it was his request!! Hope this is of some help

yes it is thank you very much, its helped a great deal as i didnt know what the different levels did
thank you once again
