I have used these in the past to get show ponies working in a better outline but wonder if it would be worth using one on my lad. He's working lovey ridden but can be real hard work on the lunge. he walks and trots lovely but if i ask for canter he tends to lean in a lot and pull realy hard. I was thinking it might be worth using a pessoa to make him work through properly and make him a litle better balanced but dont want to use anything to severe, he doesnt have a great deal of muscle yet??

If this is a bit severe does anyone have any other suggestions of how to make him more balanced??

I also have a slight problem when he's ridden. He wont pick up canter on the right rein on the correct leg. When he first came back from being schooled he was fine but he had an injury on the inside of his off side hock which made it uncomportable more than painful to canter on this lead but this has since been cleared and now is fine but I cant get him to lead on this again!! he does it on the lunge but that is when he pulls really hard, i'm running out of ideas!!!

i dont want to be too hard on him, he's only been back in work aout 6 weeks but dont want to keep him in the habit of leading with his right leg all the time!

Have you had his back checked recently.? cos he might have put his back out slightly compensating for leg injury, reason I am saying to check his ack is cos my mare wouldn't canter to right and if you do manage to get it would swap to the left , had her back done and now will canter on the right woithout changing legs
