just wondernig what peoples pet hates are? (its wet & i cannot do anything so am bored)

mine are adverts with POA on them. if you want to sell it them state how much, dont make people phone up to find out its way out of their price range (and then put comments on ad saying readvertised due to timewasters)

people that take over & do stuff to your horse without your consent because they "know better".

People who titbit my horse and then also argue that as they're in a field behind their house, they should be allowed to feed them carrots and question why I'm taking them out the field as 'I'm spoiling their view'! I kid you not! Also on old yard I used to sweep the entire walkway in the indoor barn where we all kept our stuff - and everyone else used to just do the bit outside their section! trust me - I'm not anal about cleaning, but it used to really get my goat!!!

people who lead their ponies out on the raod and walk on the inside.

and
leaving velcro undone when not in use.

People who ride at dusk with no hi-vis on

The POA also get me too LOL

"Back seat riders" - those who are terrified to do anything with their own horse, so insist on telling you how to ride your own
mad.gif

People who "know better" and tell you how to look after your own horse.

FFS, I have had horses for over 20 years. Both have survived to a ripe old age, so I must be getting something right! Leave me alone.

AAARGH. And breeeeathe.

Sorry, rant over. Livery yard been bugging me this week

- People not forking up the muckheap
- Boots on the back to front
- Dirty tack
- People who have fat horses that are out on loads of grass 24/7 and still give them 2 massive feeds a day
- people that don't wear hi-viz when hacking
- Bossy people who think they know everything but actually haven't got a clue (ie dont feed sugar beet if your feeding haylage as your horse will tie up, don't put water in your horses feed, you must trot your horse on the road at mach 5 in order to 'harden the tendons'

Can you tell I'm feeling irritable???

another vote for boots on back to front.

People who think that barefoot trimmer 'invented' the idea of horses not wearing shoes!

Grown adults riding down a road with to kids, the adult has no hat on, and no hi vis. the children have no hi vis.. GREAT role model..

Some of us have an excuse for this one - my horse is blind in one eye and prefers to be led from the wrong side.

People who borrow things and don't return them/return them broken/return them dirty delete as applicable.
Another vote for people not sweeping up, not wearing high vis & "back seat riders"

The livery yard typical b1tches

i HATE my yard, and if it wasn't for the few nice people - I'd be moving off a hell of a lot quicker than I currently am.

No warming up

Riding to make your horse look naughtier than it is.

Over-bitting.

Okay, I'm done

People who give a damn whether I wear a hairnet when I'm competing
tongue.gif
(yes you've guessed 9 times out of 10 I don't)

People who exagerate their horse's behaviour so that every hack they do sounds like a rodeo when you know they've been for a plod round the village and their horse probably hasn't put a foot wrong.

People who think their way of doing things is the only correct way and tell everyone else they're doing things wrong.

lol about "back seat riders" - I've known plenty of them - especially when they look down on you for just enjoying your horse as a hack and doing a bit of unaffiliated jumping and then say it's "wasted" and if it was theirs it would be competing properly! (Fortunately none of these at current yard - horse is too old for these comments now anyway!)

People who infect you with worries & negativity but take ridiculous risks themselves.

Obviously STUPID behaviour - someone running at their horse whilst lunging them to make them canter, and proceeding in geing a MASSIVE GALLOP unsurprisingly... Terrifying to watch.

People who think that, because I don't wash off every stable stain, I am neglecting my horse (grey) yet her coat is always free from grit and dirt, which can't be said for many.

Being told I should lunge in a cavesson rather than a bridle for 'more control' = not true & impractical considering it's just to take off any freshness.

People that lie about things or take advantage of others, oh and thieves,...can I have nosey parkers too?

If I grumbled about every little thing I saw on the yard or at shows etc, I'd be like a bare with a constant soar head lol and life's too short to grunting about little things.

But liars, users and thieves, now their the appetence of evil.....and that's my only pet hate in the horse world.

So true!

A few of mine:
Back Seat Riders - i love that saying! Hate those buggers!
Those really novice riders who can hardly do rising trot but use spurs and a whip and a gag.
People that try to make their horses jump one single enormous jump at home even though they only compete unaff novice when they go out to shows and then preach how their horse can jump 1mtr40 (after 10 attempts). Thats ridiculous.
People that get frustrated and angry with their horses when schooling but cant even bother to learn which diagonal to ride on.
People that ask you to ride their horse saying oh hes fine and then you find out they havent dared sit on it for months after the last time it threw them off.
Im on a roll but thats the most annoying off the top of my head!

Been told what is best for my horse, both in activities and feed by someone that I not only looked to for advice but that I trusted

No 1. People stopping and telling me I should be wearing a
hard hat and have jeans or johds on not shorts. Mind your own bloody buisness!
(I realise it is not the best example, but on a 40+ deg Celcius day when I am just wandering quietly round the block on a horse I know inside out LEAVE ME ALONE!!!! I do wear a reflective jacket though =)- )
Ok that is my main hate.

No 2. People who can't ride blaming the horse for stuff going
wrong (ie refuses to jump so get spurs but contines to jerk in mouth). And linked to this instructors who don't have the guts to say YOU CANT RIDE! Stop trying to jump and learn to do a rising trot without using the reins as leverage!

No 3. At the public arena the bump in circles gang insisting on
having the deep sand and moving the jumps. You do not need the deep graded (for some reason council only did 1/2 the arena...) sand to walk and trot a few circles (i am not kidding/exagerating) but people trying to jump 1m+ do!
I realise that one is rather specific to me! =)

1. Not riding left to left at warm up and not saying sorry when they bump into you (One of our international competitors is hell for it).

2. In the winter native ponies with their winter coats with a heavyweight rug on.

3. People who keep changing horses because they are dangerous - Just learn to ride my dear!!!

4. Not wearing helmets. It is not smart!

People who get angry / lose their temper with their horse.

I actually quite like to wear my boots on the wrong way round, but I do find they stub my toes something dreadful
grin.gif

People who laugh at me for wearing jodphur boots
tongue.gif
, I have never been able to find a pair of long boots to fit my fat calves and I have a very limited budget
frown.gif

People who feed their horses huge amounts of hard feed, despite the fact that they are only working them for 30mins every other day and then they complain about their horse being uncontrollable.
