No high-viz when out and about. I don't care if you're not going on the road, what if you meet a dog walker? Gives them more chance to leash their dogs!
People who let you go into a class at a show when they know you have something wrong with your horse or tack. I had bows in my horses mane once and I was talking to one of my "friends" and she never told me that bows weren't acceptable in the class we were both in. That really p****d me off.
people who crit you when they dont now what a figure of 8 is or a surpintine
people who take over and dont let you look after your horse how you want i.e refusing to continue looking after your horse in the morning when your at work because you rugged/fed it! (has happened to my friend at old yard, moved rather quickly)
people who have the money to compete and have a 10 grand horse and think they are amazing because of it. trust got people lyk this on my mare and they couldnt even get her in trot.
Oooh another vote for people who overbit / overtack their horses yet don't know what a diagonal is... and over-riding... but *hangs head* I MIGHT be responsible for having exciting hacks when nothing's happened - it's probably the relief that nothing did and I get over-excited
s14tobin - heres an explanation on the diagonal if you are interested to know ...
Rising trot should be ridden on the outside diagonal, meaning that the rider sits as the horse's outside shoulder comes back and the inside hindleg hits the ground. This is the moment at which the horse is best able to support the rider's weight in the saddle and it also helps to ensure the horse becomes well muscled. Outside means the outside of a turn or circle. In the riding arena this is generally the side nearest the surrounding fence.
People who feed their horses huge amounts of hard feed, despite the fact that they are only working them for 30mins every other day and then they complain about their horse being uncontrollable.

Ditto this, plus when those self-same people tell me my horse is looking skinny. Erm, no she isn't, she's a good weight for her build, she just isn't a bolshy bargy hippo like your horse (2 hard feeds a day, but only going for a quiet hack three times a week!!)
Sorry what I meant was People on incorrect. Diagonal is a Pet hate not that I don't understand the term. Using my Phone today and v. Bad with touch screen! Thanks tho sandg1!
I find it far more comfortable for day to day, and I can better use my lower leg than in stiff full length boots! I think it stems from when I was teaching for hours on end, a) I would have trashed my long boots walking around / doing yard work in them but boss insisted that all the instructors be able to ride at a moments notice b) it is blooming hot in summer wearing long boots c) if you change into and out of yard boots, johds look better than breeches d) short boots cost a lot less, and when you get through a few pairs a year that matters!
I am happy to wear long boots if I am competing, hunting etc, but the rest of the time, give me my short boots! It makes no detrimental difference to my riding (in fact, I do like the fact I can move my lower leg more in short boots) so why not!
people who don't ride safely in a collecting ring and take the nose of you when you are approaching a fence.
people who don't sweep up mess.
