Wondering if anyone has any advice/ recommendations on cat insurance.
Cats have always been insured. Policy (Churchill) renewed about 2 months ago. Younger cat had incident that required emergency care and treatment for cystitis within a a very short time of start of new policy. Discovered that emergency cover on this policy had been reduced to £500 - can't remember exact figure previously, but it was significantly more. £500 is a pittance.
What is infuriating is that Churchill sent a leaflet entitled IMPORTANT CHANGES TO YOUR POLICY with the renewal (all upper case, to draw attention etc). Read through it, and none of it was relevant to the cats in question. Funnily enough, they didn't mention the massive cut to emergency cover, which I feel is disingenuous and actually deliberately misleading. The incident occurred so soon after the start of the new policy we had barely time to trawl through all the small print, to compare it to the separate sheet of (as we now know, incomplete) changes. A bit of poking around would suggest that this is the latest insurance wheeze, reducing some cover down to pointless. Have had ok experience with this insurer so far, but clearly now looking at alternatives.
We could switch to another insurer, but looking at Petplan, it seems that said cat would not be covered ever again for anything relating to cystitis/urinary issue. If we stay with current insurer, this WILL remain covered, but we have the issue of the small amount of cover payout.
Any advice/recs?
